Advancing a Safe, Calm, and Disciplined Learning Environment
This week at CAP, our students engaged in a variety of meaningful experiences that reflect our ongoing goal: to promote a safe, calm, and disciplined environment where students can discover and develop their talents. Through health education, academic exploration, character development, and community celebration, each event reinforced the values that support student growth and well-being.
Students participated in an engaging assembly led by the American Heart Association, where they learned how healthy habits, awareness of heart emergencies, and compassion for others contribute to both physical safety and emotional well-being. Emphasizing kindness and inclusion, especially for peers with “special hearts”—helped foster a supportive school culture rooted in empathy and respect.
In the atrium, Mr. Knower’s 11th grade students took part in a gallery walk exploring the work of Harlem Renaissance artist Jacob Lawrence. By analyzing historical and economic themes in Lawrence’s art, students practiced thoughtful observation, collaboration, and critical thinking—skills that encourage focus, discipline, and meaningful engagement with complex ideas.
We also proudly celebrated senior student-athlete Darren Jenkins, who signed his Letter of Intent to play collegiate soccer at Salem University, an NCAA Division II program. Darren’s achievements as a two-time team captain and PJAA First Team All-Star reflect the discipline, perseverance, and leadership that CAP strives to instill in all students. Celebrations like this highlight the positive outcomes that grow from a structured and supportive environment.
Our elementary students marked an exciting milestone with “100 Days Smarter”, participating in hands-on math activities designed by our ES Math Team. Through building, counting, patterning, and problem-solving, students practiced focus, cooperation, and joyful learning—key components of a calm and productive classroom environment.
Freshmen also had the opportunity to hear from CAP’s founder, Mr. Proietta, who shared stories from his experiences growing up in the 1960s and reflected on the values that shaped our school community. These moments connect our past to our future, reinforcing respect, perspective, and a shared sense of purpose across generations.
Additionally, our elementary students were joined by a CADEkids representative for age-appropriate social and emotional learning lessons. Through interactive games and activities, students practiced making healthy choices, managing mistakes, and understanding peer influence. These are essential skills that support self-regulation, responsible decision-making, and overall school safety.
Together, these experiences demonstrate how intentional programming, strong partnerships, and meaningful celebrations help create an environment where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow—academically, socially, and emotionally.
