WOW Talk Recap: Education Is Power—Owning Your Future

Presented by AMP and CUA 3 Concilio
Protective Factors Focus: Resilience & Knowledge of Child/Youth Development

Our most recent WOW Talk, hosted in partnership with AMP and CUA 3 Concilio, brought students together for a powerful session titled “Education Is Power: Owning Your Future.” WOW Talks are designed to inspire and empower teens through honest, engaging conversations led by their Strengthening Families team—and this event did exactly that.

Students shared that the session opened their eyes to new perspectives, helped them think deeply about their goals, and created space to speak freely about challenges and dreams. Several students appreciated how relatable the facilitators were, how well-organized the workshop felt, and how meaningful it was to connect with peers who are navigating similar experiences.

Many students highlighted how valuable it was to step outside their comfort zone, gain clarity about their future, and learn that they are not alone in their journey. From the open conversations to the supportive environment (and yes, even the good food!), feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The theme of resilience resonated strongly as students reflected on bouncing back from setbacks and taking ownership of their next steps.

Part II: Getting Unstuck — Finding My Way Back

Protective Factors Focus: Resilience & Concrete Support

The second component of the workshop, “Getting Unstuck: Finding My Way Back,” centered on understanding how to rebuild momentum when life feels overwhelming. Students explored strategies to recognize barriers, ask for help, and use their support systems effectively. They shared how helpful it was to hear from others experiencing similar challenges and to learn real skills to navigate hard moments with confidence.

This session reinforced the importance of concrete supports—knowing when and how to reach out, and remembering that resilience isn’t about doing everything alone, but about having the courage to keep moving forward.

Across both topics, one message was clear: our students are eager for more. Their voices reflected appreciation, growth, and a renewed sense of purpose. We are grateful to AMP and CUA 3 Concilio for creating spaces where our students feel heard, supported, and empowered to own their future.
