Extracurricular Activities

Student Government

This club, moderated by Mrs. McNamara, gives students the opportunity to be heard and help make CAP a better place. Students are elected by their peers and closely work within the school representing their individual classes. Student Government provides a “hands-on” approach to politics and collective work.

Physical Fitness

Moderated by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Cronin on Tuesdays in M15, this club helps students become more physically fit by eating healthy and light kinesthetic workouts.

Martial Arts

Kick into shape with Mr. McCaffrey in the atrium every Tuesday and Thursday. This combo of Korean karate and kickboxing emphasizes discipline respect and promotes hard work.

Steppers

The CAP Steppers, as moderated by Ms. Kain, electrify the school assemblies. The group meets throughout the year and works to create visual/auditory performances using coordinated movements and teamwork. Students interested in “Stepping up their game” should contact Ms. Kain for eligibility requirements and meet times.

Flag Football

This group, moderated by Mr. Kavistan, plays intramural-style flag football. Students are split into teams who then play each other for the coveted “Championship.” If you are interested in football or just looking for a serious “cardio” workout, then Flag Football Club is for you. See you on the gridiron!

Talent Show

This group, moderated by Mrs. Pogorzelski, meets during the second half of the year to create The Middle School Talent Show in May. Students work to perfect their skills (singing, dancing, playing instruments, etc) in M24 after school, then perform in front of the entire Middle School.

Math Counts

This club, moderated by Ms. Pugliese works/completes on solving various types/difficulties of math problems. This group competes against other schools in the city.

This group will meet under Mr. Weeks’ supervision throughout the year. This club is intended for students who enjoy playing already, or would like to learn how to play chess.

Yearbook

Students with an artistic side may enjoy working with Ms. Gibson to help create the CAP Middle School yearbook. Students will take pictures and work to build an attractive display of this school year via the yearbook. Students will meet throughout the year not only to take pictures, but to arrange the layout, and “write up” what the pictures portray.

Basketball

Students interested in learning to play or playing basketball should join Mr. Dickson in the Spring for Basketball Club. This club will meet towards the end of the school year, and play basketball in the gymnasium. Students wishing to join this club should contact Mr. Dickson for requirements ie. what to wear, physical, behavior, etc.

Theatre

Students with a passion for the dramatic arts should contact Ms. Rivera for Theatre Club. Students involved in Theatre Club will work with Ms. Rivera rehearsing scenes and work on acting techniques. Ultimately, the finished product will be a play put on for an audience.

Volleyball

Students interested in playing or learning how to play volleyball should see Mr. Kavistan or Ms. Kain. Students will meet during the year practicing serving, bumping, setting, and spiking. As a culminating activity for this club, students take on the Middle School faculty in a game for bragging rights. Students should refer to Mr. Kavistan for meeting times and requirements for this club.

Drum line
