Extracurricular Activities

CAP Junior Choir

Members: 3rd and 4th grade students
Meetings:Monday from 3:15 to 3:55 PM
Purpose: To have students come together as a team to work on other more advanced selections and perform during the Winter and Spring school concerts and other special occasions. The choir also develops confidence and helps create high self-esteem within the students.

Drama Club

Members: 3rd and 4th grade students
Meetings:Tuesday from 3:15 to 3:55 PM
Purpose: Through the reading and performing of a play students will enhance their self-confidence, self-esteem, self-discipline, improve oral communication, foster positive social skills and the ability to work in group, develop and appreciation for the talents of others, and develop and appreciation for live theater.

Art Club 1 + 2

Members: 1st and 2nd grade students
Meetings: Thursday from 3:15 to 3:55 PM
Purpose: To broaden the students' knowledge of art and expose them to different art forms and materials that are age appropriate. The art standards as listed on the Department of Education's website will be used as guidelines to help students explore their potential and creativity.

Art Club 3 + 4

Members: 3rd and 4th grade students
Meetings: Tuesday from 3:15 to 3:55 PM
Purpose: Same as the Art Club for 1st and 2nd grade students integrating materials and art forms that are more appropriate for this age group.

Math Club 1 + 2

Members: 1st and 2nd grade students
Meetings: Tuesday from 3:15 to 3:55 PM
Purpose: Through math enrichment programs, lessons, and games the Math Club aims to further develop the members’ mathematical skills, increase their enjoyment in learning and using math, and to promote teamwork, camaraderie, and friendship.

Math Club 3 + 4

Members: 3rd and 4th grade students
Meetings: Thursday from 3:15 to 3:55 PM
Purpose: Same as Math Club for 1st and 2nd grade students integrating more advanced concepts and materials.

Reading Olympics

Members: 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students
Meetings: Thursday from 3:15 to 3:55 PM
Purpose: The Olympics is primarily a celebration of reading. The program is designed to promote reading, teamwork, self-confidence, and fun. Teams will gather at locations throughout the city and will be asked questions about the books read. Teams are awarded ribbons based on the number of points earned. All participants are winners!
